Project

Strood Riverside Flood Defences

Raising the existing ground level by approximately 2m, the project aims to protect the sites from future flooding. This is achieved through the installation of approximately 850m of steel sheet piling and importing circa 100,000 tonnes of fill material.

However, before the works could be completed the existing sites needed to be remediated with approximately 20,000 tonnes of material being processed and retained on site with contaminated material being removed to licensed sites.

Further works to raise and realign Canal Road facilitate the future development of the waterfront, affording panoramic views of the city of Rochester on the opposite bank whilst retaining access to Strood Station and its high-speed link to London.
